Avian Influenza (Human H7N9) (Update)

The National Health and Family Planning Commission of China have notified WHO of 5 new laboratory-confirmed human cases of avian influenza A(H7N9) virus infection, including 1 deaths.
Onset dates range from 7 May to 22 May 2016. Cases range in age from 45 to 63 years. Of these 5 cases, 4 are male. The majority (4 cases) reported exposure to live poultry, slaughtered poultry or live poultry markets. One case had a history of selling pork in a market.
Cases were reported from 4 provinces: Jiangsu (2), Beijing (1), Hebei (1) and Jiangxi (1).
Advice for Travellers
Travellers experiencing severe flu like symptoms within 10 days of returning from China, should contact their GP and inform them of their recent travel to China.
