China Specific Risk of Coronavirus (COVID-19)

China has reported a recent increase in case numbers and/or emerging or known variants of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Shanghai Municipality and Jilin Province.
Following a review of the public health risk assessment process, Shanghai Municipality and Jilin Province has now changed to having a high risk of exposure to COVID-19.

Advice for Travellers
There is a risk of exposure to coronavirus (COVID-19) in mainland China.
There is also a high risk of exposure to coronavirus (COVID-19) and/or emerging or known variants of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Shanghai Municipality and Jilin Province.
- All travellers are advised to avoid non-essential travel to Shanghai Municipality and Jilin Province due to the reduced availability of healthcare locally. This applies even to travellers who are fully vaccinated.
Please be aware that risk of COVID-19 in this country may change at short notice, and also consider your risk in any transit countries and from travelling itself.
