Dengue in Bangladesh

21 Sep 2021

Media report that dengue continues to be transmitted across Bangladesh. A total of 15 460 people have been admitted to hospital with dengue from the beginning of 2021 to 18 September. Of these cases, 59 have died this year, all in July, August and September.

Advice for Travellers

Dengue is an infection spread by mosquito bites that can cause a severe flu-like illness.

If you are travelling to an affected region, you are potentially at risk of dengue fever and should be aware of this infection.

If you develop a high temperature (fever) either during or after travelling to an affected area, you should seek medical advice as soon as possible and give details of your recent travel history.
