Polio in Yemen

26 Oct 2020

On 21st October 2020, the Global Polio Eradication Initiative reported two cases of polio in Saadah province and a total of 17 polio cases reported in the country.

Advice for Travellers

Poliomyelitis is spread between person to person through the faecal-oral route and by consuming contaminated food and water.

  • You should consider having a booster dose of polio vaccine if it has been more than 10 years since your last booster and you are travelling to a country where polio remains a problem.
