Polio in Guinea

21 Oct 2020

On 14th October 2020, the Global Polio Eradication Initiative reported 11 cases of polio; one each in Conakry, Faranah and Kindia, five in Kankan and three in N’zerekore provinces.

Advice for Travellers

Poliomyelitis is spread between person to person through the faecal-oral route and by consuming contaminated food and water.

  • You should consider having a booster dose of polio vaccine if it has been more than 10 years since your last booster and you are travelling to a country where polio remains a problem.
