Yellow Fever in Brazil (Update 16)

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) reported 5 travel-associated cases of yellow fever among unvaccinated EU/EEA travellers returning from Brazil, between January 2018 and 9 March 2018. Most recent cases have been reported in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais states. An unvaccinated yellow fever case, from Switzerland, has recently died.

Mosquito bite avoidance rules should be adhered to - the mosquito that spreads yellow fever bites predominantly during the day.

Yellow fever vaccine is recommended for travellers to areas at risk of yellow fever (including São Paulo City) unless contraindicated.
