Malaria in Brazil (Roraima State)

An outbreak of malaria in the town of Caracaraí, in the south of Roraima state continues. Thirty cases in the first nine days of 2017 brings the case total for this year to 763.
Advice for Travellers
At this time malaria prevention advice for travellers to Brazil is unchanged: Roraima is a high risk state and antimalarial chemoprophylaxis is advised.
The importance of following existing guidance including avoidance of mosquito bites in all areas is emphasized.
