Netherlands (ex Suriname)
13 Mar 2017
On the 13 March 2017 the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment reported (in Dutch) confirmed a case of yellow fever (YF) in a Dutch traveller that is known to have contracted the disease in Suriname.
Advice for Travellers
A traveller's risk of YF is determined by their general risk assessment e.g. country visited, length of stay, city or rural, activities etc.
- Mosquito bite avoidance rules should be adhered to - the mosquito that spreads YF bites predominantly during the day.
- YF vaccine should be considered for travellers at risk (unless contraindicated).
