Japanese Encephalitis in Republic of Korea

The media has reported the countries first Japanese encephalitis virus of 2016 in a male from Gwangju. There were alleged to be 40 cases of Japanese encephalitis virus in 2015.

Advice for Travellers

Japanese encephalitis vaccine is recommended for certain travellers considered to be at risk; particularly during the high risk season. Travellers should also take steps to avoid mosquito bites.
