Chikungunya Virus Infection in Colombia (Update)

As of 6 June 2015, a total of 373 585 cases of chikunguya virus infection have been reported nationally in Colombia since the outbreak began in 2014. Of the total, 263 247 clinically diagnosed cases have been reported in 2015, of those, 538 have been laboratory confirmed.
Advice for Travellers
Avoidance of mosquito bites, particularly during daylight hours, is recommended. Bite avoidance measures include: covering up with clothing, the use of insect repellent and bed nets impregnated with insecticide. Reduction of mosquito breeding sites around hotel rooms/homes is advised for longer term stays.
