Yellow Fever in Brazil (Goias)

The Ministry of Health for Brazil has reported a case of yellow fever in Goias state. The case is described as a foreign traveller (male), who visited the city of Alto Paraiso, Goias state in central Brazil. The man then travelled to the city of Rio de Janeiro where yellow fever was diagnosed; he received medical treatment in hospital and has since been released from care.
Advice for Travellers
Goias state in central Brazil lies within the area of the country known to have risk of yellow fever transmission.
WHO recommends yellow fever vaccination for all travellers aged over 9 months travelling to the state of Goias (unless contraindicated). Travellers who visit the Amazon area of Brazil must also take steps to avoid mosquito bites.
