Hepatitis A in Mexico

Hepatitis A infection is an ongoing risk in Mexico. The Federal Secretariat for Health Epidemiological Bulletin, reports figures for 2014. As of 30 August, Yucatan state has the highest number of cases of heaptitis A with a total of 1015, followed by Guanajuato state with 847 cases. Other states more affected include: the Federal District, 693 cases, the State of Mexico, 645 cases, San Luis Potosi, 629, Jalisco 526 cases and Oaxaca with 511 cases.
Advice for Travellers
Vaccination against hepatitis A is usually recommended for travellers visiting Mexico. Travellers should also maintain a high standard of food and water precautions and personal hygiene.
