Pertusssis in Netherlands

An increase in pertussis cases has been reported from two regions of Overijssel province in 2014. In Twente, 275 pertussis cases have been reported thus far in 2014, this compares with a total of 175 cases for the whole of 2013. IJsselland is also reporting an increase in cases; 125 to date in 2014, compared with just over 100 for the whole of 2013.

Advice for Travellers

It should be confirmed that children have received their recommended doses of pertussis vaccine in accordance with the UK schedule. The JCVI recommends pertussis boosters for pregnant women, but not for other adults in the UK.
