Donate Blood this Summer

Blood Transfusion Services across the UK are aiming to build blood supplies in advance of a very busy summer.

This year the message from the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service to everyone, whether travelling abroad on holiday or enjoying the celebrations here at home, is 'Give BeforeYou Go'.

There can be a marked reduction in blood donations at holiday times, but with an estimated 1.2 million people and 15,000 athletes expected to visit London as part of the Olympic Games there is a particular need for O donors to come forward. There are four main blood groups – O, A, B and AB. Group O is the most common and therefore the most in demand.
