Dengue Fever in Sri Lanka

The number of suspected dengue fever cases has continued to rise since the beginning of 2012.

To date, 10 042 suspected cases and 42 related deaths have been recorded. More than half of the reported cases were located in Western province. The worst affected district is Colombo which recorded a total of 2478 cases and 17 deaths in the first quarter of 2012.

Advice for Travellers

Travellers should be aware of the risk of dengue fever and be advised to use personal protection methods to avoid mosquito bites.
